May 31st Ghost Town Hunting: Alstown
It had been so hot on Friday that I was still nursing "some sun" from driving the car into town to grocery shop. And Saturday, Mother Nature was in a petulant mood and had little tantrums all day long: rain...wind...rain again...then clouds because she was cranky. In between the rains I had managed to plant our patio garden and bring out my new flowers, so the second set of rains and clouds were actually kind of appreciated; everyone got a good soaking in their new home. Still...who wants rain on a weekend?
Beloved Hubby and I woke to a Sunday morning of beautiful sunlight, cooler temperatures, and a much calmer Mother Nature. In fact, we both woke up feeling pretty good ourselves, which isn't always easy at our age. Okay we aren't "old" yet but we have enough miles under our belts to occasionally need a good night's rest, and Sunday morning, when we awoke, for once we awoke refreshed. It was too nice a day to putter--although I love puttering with the man. He can putter better than anyone I've ever known! But I asked if maybe we couldn't go out and play, and boy...play we did!
We went adventuring to see if we couldn't find our first ghost town. We have a WHOLE MAP of ghosts to hunt down, and we had really hoped to ghost hunt in earnest on a new 4-wheel toy...but while we're tucking away our pennies, we thought it'd be fun to hone our ghost hunting skills and give it a go. So off we went in Scooby, with Adventure Hat and Gandalf the walking stick in tow.
Beloved Hubby had been to Alstown before, so he had some idea of where he was going. I did not! All I could tell was that it was in the middle of the Waterville Plateau somewhere, and there are a ton of short, semi-paved "roads" up there, like "Road 7 SW" and "Road K NE"...they crisscross like a checkerboard up there.

I had moseyed through this area before on "Mystique", my F650GS adventure bike (https://redtigre62.blogspot.com/2012/04/ghost-town-debut.html) so thought it would be fun to share what I found with Cindy who had become my willing accomplice.
Hard to believe it had been 8 years since I had navigated my way around here... sold the adventure bike thinking I would get back into it but never did until Cindy and I started looking at touring ATV's and we both nodded our seal of approval when the 2021 Can-Am Outlander North Editions are released.

We are going to have some fun...
